About
Science Olympiad is the nation’s most exciting K-12 science competition. It provides the opportunity for students to practice their skills as practicing scientists and to explore career choices. Each year, the MKHS Science Olympiad team competes in a broad line-up of events in all STEM fields with the core topics of biology, earth science, chemistry, astronomy, physics, and engineering. In past years, members of the team have found success at the Los Angeles County Regional Competition and at the Southern California State Competition, which take place in March and April, respectively.

2017
March 4th:
The Mark Keppel High School’s Science Olympiad team has earned terrific results this year at regional competition on March 4. The team ranked 6th place at the Los Angeles County Science Olympiad at Occidental College. All members ranked very high in their individual events, placing top 20 in almost every event. The team is now preparing for their state competition at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) on April 8. The team would like to thank their coaches and science teachers at Mark Keppel. The team’s dedication and hard work has brought them far, but this accomplishment would not have been possible without the support and assistance of the coaches and teachers. Congratulations to the team and their coaches for this amazing achievement!
2016: Mark Keppel High School’s Science Olympiad team performed very well this year. The team took home the 6th place trophy and plaque at the Los Angeles County Science Olympiad at Occidental College. It also placed 20th in the Southern California Science Olympiad at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Members earned numerous medals, commemorating their hard work and dedication toward the competition.
